Check ich nicht

To me, this image is about world events and the feeling that I often don’t understand what it’s all about anymore. Everything seems contradictory, chaotic, and hard to grasp. A state where at some point you just think, “Check ich nicht” what means "I don't get it" in English. At the same time, I get the impression that many people who think they’ve figured everything out seem as though they haven’t really evolved much since the days of the fish and just don’t get it. That’s why the fish takes center stage, as a symbol of this stagnation in thinking. The chaotic, intertwining form made up of faces and the fish reinforces this sense of disorientation. No one really understands what’s happening. Neither the figures depicted nor myself. The painting is also dedicated to the people who stand in front of it and say, “I don’t get it.” That’s exactly the point. Nobody gets it.
